Hello RMS Families,

It’s hard to imagine, but we are in the last school week for 2018! Friday is an early release day - students are dismissed at 11:20. Here are your weekly messages for the week of Sunday Dec.16th:

Students - enter 2019 strong! Finish this week successfully - make sure you are missing NO work heading into the Holiday Break by checking in with your teachers on Monday! Parents are encouraged to check in with teachers as well to make sure your child is all caught up in all classes, before the break.

This Wednesday we recognized our Students of the Month for November:

Grade 5: Molly Gavin and Braden LaChance. Grade 6: Abigail Harlow and Brayton George. Grade 7: Nichole McIntosh and Liam Burke. Grade 8: Nina Talarico and George Besarick - Congratulations!!!

Thank you to our Student of The Month Committee, Superintendent Swenson and Assistant Superintendent Powers for joining us and congratulations to our Students of the Month, and their families as well!

Attention parents of 8th Graders! The Yearbook Committee is requesting baby pictures for the yearbook! So please help your 8th grader remember to bring in a baby picture of themselves, with their name and homeroom room # on the back. They can be turned in to their homeroom teachers but are due by Jan. 2nd - the first day back from vacation, Thank you!

Congratulations to the Robotics team competed in the First Lego League qualifier "Into Orbit" at UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday, December 8th. Students spent many weeks building a robot to complete challenges related to space exploration, coding to perform certain tasks, and also presenting a solution to a problem faced by astronauts on the ISS today. All the hard work culminated in a fun day of matches and presentations. Advisors Mr. and Mrs. Leighton are so proud of all their efforts! The team looks forward to next year!

The ‘Elf Chorus’ : The lead teacher elves and the junior student elves practiced this week for the big event next Thursday morning. Student and teacher elves will be spreading holiday cheer as students and staff enter the building on the 20th. Thank you to all who are participating!

We are excited to a new school-wide ‘RMS Personal Attributes’ program we will be starting on Monday called “THE WHOLE YOU!!”. “The Whole You!!!” program was created by both staff and students here at RMS. This program names attributes, or qualities, that we would like to see each and every one of our RMS students have by the time students’ graduate 8th grade. Next week we will be having a spirit week to introduce these qualities. Posted around the school, there will be a word and a theme for each day. We will be making announcements throughout the week to inform students of these important qualities, announcing each day the quality is for that day, what it means, and how students can start to build your abilities in this area.

After we return from the Winter Holiday break, we will spend one month on each of these attributes. At that time, students will participate in different activities, school-wide, that will help students build skills in these areas.

Students should please listen for the following schedule of events for next week:
Monday 12/17: Perseverance- WEAR PURPLE Wear purple to pledge to persevere when times get tough! Tuesday 12/18: Integrity- WEAR A MUSTACHE We must-ache you to act with integrity!
Wednesday 12/19: Supportive- TWIN DAY Show your support for one another and dress as a twin!
Thursday 12/20: Respectful- UGLY HOLIDAY SWEATER Wear an ugly holiday sweater to show respect to our individuality!
Friday 12/21: CONFIDENCE- HAT DAY Wear a hat to celebrate being confident and true to WHOLE YOU!!

Important - To ensure the safety and security of our students please send a note to school with any changes to your child's dismissal. No student will be excused early, or at the close of school from his/her normal bus assignment merely by verbal request over the phone. If there is a change to your child's dismissal you will be required to come into the office to sign your child out before the end of the school day at 2:40PM

Please make every effort to pick up your order at this time. If you cannot , please contact a board member to make alternate arrangements (or for any questions) at rmspo2014@gmail.com. Thanks again to all who participated in these fundraisers for
